Introducing ISSO Yutaka Midori Sencha
"Yutaka Midori" — this is the name of a tea cultivar.
There are over 100 different tea cultivars, with "Yabukita" being the most common and well-known.
When we first tried tea made from the Yutaka Midori cultivar, I was blown away by how delicious Japanese tea could be. That encounter inspired us to create "ISSO Yutaka Midori Sencha," a rare organic Japanese tea that allows you to fully experience the unique characteristics of this cultivar.
ISSO Yutaka Midori Sencha is grown in Kagoshima, a region famous for its sweet potatoes. This tea offers a sweet aroma reminiscent of sweet potatoes, paired with a robust flavor profile.
[About ISSO Yutaka Midori Sencha]
Our ISSO YUTAKA MIDORI SENCHA ORGANIC GREEN TEA embodies the unique varietal character of this tea grown in the temperate climate of Kagoshima Prefecture.
Unique to Yutaka grown in this region, the plants are concealed under black covers before harvest, a practice that not only enhances the leaves' deep green color but also reduces their astringency.
Following harvest, our tea craftsmen employ a technique of thorough steaming and high-temperature roasting, a process essential for bringing out the robust aroma, fullness, and subtle sweetness that are hallmarks of the Yutaka strain.
Our Sencha stands out with its exceptional umami richness and a unique, deep, yet smooth aroma, distinguishing it from other, more typical Sencha teas.
